Pumps Care

Caring for Your ToeAndHeelGold Pumps

Your new pumps use very soft leather for the best performance and toe point — but this means they need a little extra care to get the full 8–10 weeks of life from them!

After Every Use

If your feet were sweaty, stuff pumps with newspaper and let them air dry naturally at room temperature. Once dry, rub them gently through your hands to keep the leather supple. Never store them while damp.

Cleaning

Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn marks, use a slightly damp (not wet) cloth and wipe gently — no scrubbing. Never use shoe polish, leather cleaners, or household chemicals.

Outdoor Use — Overshoes Are Essential!

Scotland's weather is tough on soft leather! Always wear overshoes walking to and from the platform. Only remove them when you're dancing. Wet grass and rain can ruin pumps quickly — protection is far better than cure.

⚠️ Critical Don'ts

❌ Never use heat to dry (no hairdryers or radiators — air dry only)
❌ Never soak or leave wet
❌ Never remove the insoles — this will damage the shoe structure
❌ Never store in plastic bags — use a breathable fabric bag
❌ Never use abrasive brushes

Breaking In Your New Pumps

New pumps will feel snug — that's normal! Wear them at home for 10–15 minutes at a time, gradually increasing. Rub them through your hands daily to soften the leather. A wee bit tight at first is fine — they'll mould to your feet. If they're painful (not just snug), they may be too small.

Storage

Always ensure pumps are completely dry before storing. Use a breathable fabric or mesh bag, away from heat and direct sunlight. Never use plastic bags.
